Vietnam to sort universities to improve quality

by VTV408 November 2015 Last updated at 17:26 PM

VTV.vn - Vietnamese universities will be sorted into three groups based on the training they offer and whether the schools are oriented toward research, application, or practice.

The best universities will be ranked Class 1, the worst Class 3 and the rest Class 2.

The categorisations will be made once every 10 years, while the ranking will be made once every two years.

This follows a decree issued by the government which took effect on October 25. MOET representatives said university ranking and classification is a necessity as it helps set clear goals for university development.

So far 200 out of 210 universities and colleges have completed the self-accreditation process.
