After a recent field check in the coastal city, during which World Bank representatives reviewed projects financed through its fund for urban development and poverty reduction, the reps agreed to continue the preferential loan program for Da Nang.
To receive funds from the World Bank, Da Nang committed to successfully implement 3 projects to improve local infrastructure and social welfare over a period of 20 years. After 15 years, Da Nang has confirmed that they are about to meet their target. The city has already finished 2 out of the 3 projects, and local authorities aim to develop Da Nang into a green city by 2025.
This is the southern corridor of Da Nang City, with a total length of 7 kilometres. 10 years ago, it used to be flooded during the rainy season. Rebuilt in 2014, this road connects the southeast of the city with the centre west.
The World Bank has agreed to increase the loans to help Da Nang invest in a rainwater drainage system and a wastewater treatment system. Local authorities are working towards the ultimate goal of raising the living standard for local people.
