Among the events, a Buddhist requiem for victims of traffic accidents began in Truc Lam - Thien Truong Buddhist Center in the northern province of Nam Dinh on November 8th. Nearly 6000 people attended the requiem, which is a spiritually meaningful occasion for commemorating accident victims and sharing grief with their relatives.
Every day in Vietnam, 24 people die and 70 suffer from life-long disabilities due to traffic accidents. Moreover, millions of US dollars are spent on the consequences of these accidents, which threatens the country's economic development as well as the living standards of families. The requiem will end on Nov 10th. This year is the 4th year Vietnam joins the World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims.
