Thailand boosts bilateral ties with Vietnam

VTV.vn - Thailand has agreed to boost co-operation in various fields including politics, economic and marine security. The developments followed the meeting between Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and Thai Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai on July 8th

At the meeting, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc underlined Vietnam’s keenness to foster the comprehensive partnership with Thailand. He suggested that Thailand and Vietnam should utilise hotlines to deal with issues at sea, especially those related to fishermen. Speaking at the meeting, Thai Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai said Thai-Vietnamese relations were one of the country’s top priorities. He said that Thailand has been trying to promote investment into Vietnam.

On the same day, Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh also met with Thai Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai. At the meeting, the two sides agreed to continue to foster economic relation to increase two-way trade turnover to 20 billion USD by 2020. The two countries also agreed to promote co-operation in regional and international forums. Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh asked Thailand to facilitate collaboration with Vietnam in regional and global issues including those related to the East Sea, as well as in managing and using water resources in Mekong River in accordance with international practices.
