This is equal to one third of Vietnam's wheat imports. Creeping thistle is a non-native species that can seriously damage plants in Vietnam and reduce up to 70% of crop yields. Many countries and territories banned importing products that contain creeping thistle.
The Plant Protection Department under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development had requested that all batches of wheat containing creeping thistle must be re-exported, but some enterprises asked for re-exporting to be delayed / so that they can negotiate with suppliers and find alternative supplies. Thus, the Plant Protection Department decided re-exporting will start in early November.
