To honor its achievement, Health Minister Nguyen Thi Kim Tien presented a Certificate of Merit to the Viet Duc Friendship Hospital. This is a timely nod to the hospital's physicians who helped achieve a breakthrough for the Vietnamese transplant industry.
Most of the 15 organ transplants have seen good results and the health of a lung transplant patient has been progressing and can now breathe on his own.
Over the past 10 years, Viet Duc Hospital has received organs donations from 57 brain-dead donors, of which, doctors have conducted transplants on 25 hearts, two lungs, 54 livers, and 99 kidneys, helping multiple patients get a second chance at life.
