Heavy rain has caused many places in Phu Quoc island, Kien Giang province to be flooded. This morning (Aug 9th), the local authorities mobilized many forces to support people against flooding. Rain poured, causing water from streams to rush to residential areas of Duong To commune, Cua Duong and Duong Dong town. In the past 3 days, there were 2 times Phu Quoc island was seriously flooded. According to the local people, this is a historic flood in Phu Quoc. There are 34 km of roads in Phu Quoc flooded, some places up to 1.5m. The total number of flooded houses is nearly 3,900.
In Binh Phuoc, heavy rain during the past 3 consecutive days caused many areas to be heavily flooded, especially commones sharing border with Dak Nong province. Many people have been isolated dur to flood. 300 households in Bu Dang district were heavily damaged. Two bridges in Bu Dang were swept away, isolated 50 households. 200 households have been evacuated.
