VTV.vn - 500 households on Phu Quoc Island and in Kien Giang Province were evacuated due to the recent flood.

Continuous heavy rain for three days caused many places on the island of Phu Quoc (Kien Giang) to be over a meter under water.

On August 5th, many roads in Dương Đông Town and Cửa Dương, Cửa Cạn, and Dương Tơ communes were still deeply flooded. On Cach Mang Thang Tam, Tran Phu, Mạc Cửu, and Nguyễn Trung Trực streets, locals and tourists used boats to move around.

Many old people in the region said this was the biggest flood recorded in history of Phu Quoc.

Phu Quoc is the largest island district in Vietnam, with a total area of nearly 600 km2; there are about 145,000 people living on the island.
