However, there is a story about one of the men involved in the rescue of the survivors. When walking along Han River with his friends on June 4th, Nguyễn Hoàng Quốc noticed the incident. He then immediately tried to save the victims.
Nguyen Hoang Quoc, Nai Hien Dong Commune, Da Nang said: « I was walking along Han River with my friends when I witnessed the boat capsizing. As soon as I saw a small boat onshore, I took the boat and I saved 3 people”.
However the boat was too small and the oar broke, so felt helpless.
Nguyen Hoang Quoc, Nai Hien Dong Commune, Da Nang said: “If only the oar hadn’t broken, I might have been able to save more people. I wasn’t scared at all, I just tried to save as many people as I could”.
20 hours after the accident, local authorities had found 3 missing victims with the help of 70 professional divers.
Nguyen Tu, President of Diving Association, Nai Hien Dong Commune, Da Nang said : « About 6 or 7 boats with many divers have been mobilised to find victims. We’ll try our best to help the authorities whenever indeed”.
It would take a long time for the victims to forget the tragic accident, but they will always remember those who offered their hands to save their lives.
