Khat when chewed is described as providing users with a feeling of over-excitement and euphoria. This is the 5th case in the last month involving such large smuggling attempts. Investigations have shown that the leaves are sourced from Africa.
Customs claimed the leaves were planned to be transported through Southeast Asia before being exported to the US.
