VTV.vn - The Ministry of Defence announced it had assigned 5 officers to participate in a UN peace keeping force mission to the Central African Republic and South Sudan in a statement on Tuesday in Hanoi.

At the farewell ceremony, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh announced the orders sending the five officers on the UN peacekeeping mission. He addressed the soldiers before they departed.

"You have had intensive training. I have only a few things to remind you of. You are now representatives of the country and Uncle Ho’s soldiers, I hope you accomplish the mission and return home with pride. You are the pioneers in this new mission", Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh, Deputy Defence Minister, said.

The officers were carefully selected and have received thorough training before going on duty in the Central African Republic and South Sudan for a one-year term. They will depart on April 9.

"This is a very important milestone in my career. I’m so happy and proud. I’m determined to do everything I must to fulfil my orders", Captain Tran Duc Huong, Vietnam Peacekeeping Centre, said.

Vietnam first participated in UN peace keeping missions in 2014. Seven groups of officers have been to the Central African Republic and South Sudan for peace keeping missions so far.
