Accordingly, each household has a responsibility to protect the allocated area. With farming activities strongly dependent on forests, residents have become more active in forest protection.
Quang Nam province has established 5 more management boards for forest protection. These agencies are in charge of assigning forest areas to households, and to instruct them on effective protection measures.
"Farmers know that their business depends on forests. They now share the responsibility with forest owners, contributing to sustainable development", Le Van Hoang, Deputy Chief, Management Board for Forest Protection, A Vuong Commune, Quang Nam Province, said.
Quang Nam has 20,000 households that benefit from forest protection. Authorities disburse more than 4 million USD to forest owners and locals to provide for local farmers.This management method ensures farmers receive stable income, and also raises awareness about forest protection.
