A welcome ceremony was held on July 25 immediately after the ship docked for the visiting 49 officer candidates who recently graduated from the Japan Coast Guard Academy. Kojima, a 377-foot training vessel, is homeported at the Japan Coast Guard Academy and serves to educate and train future officers of the Japan Coast Guard. This is the second time Kojima has visited Vietnam, as part of an ongoing partnership between the two services.
During their visit, the cadets will hold dialogues with cadets of the VCG Zone 2 and tour the Zone 2 Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Centre focusing on its operations, areas of responsibility and all aspects of daily life. While the Kojima is in Danang, the cadets and other crewmembers will also have ample opportunity to meet and interact with members of the Municipal People’s Committee and local community.
