Deputy Prime Minister Trịnh Đình Dũng has asked the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment to cooperate with Hà Tĩnh Province People’s Committee to promptly examine the case of Formosa Hà Tĩnh Steel Corporation that is suspected of burying untreated industrial waste underground.
As soon as they received information from local residents, Hà Tĩnh authorities arrived at the dumping location in Kỳ Anh Town, Hà Tĩnh Province and found about 100 tonnes of muddy waste buried at a farm, which was previously owned by Lê Quang Hòa, Director of the Kỳ Anh Town Urban Environment Company. Samples of the waste were sent to Hanoi for analysis. Hà Tĩnh authorities are now tracking the origins of this amount of waste.
