VTV.vn - The Mekong Delta's Winter-Spring crops recorded their highest average yield in 20 years with 7.2 tons/hectare, according to information released at a conference held by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development in Vinh Long province.

Accordingly, a total of 1.5 million hectares of Mekong Delta paddies have been sowed, meaning that the total yield of the whole region is estimated at 11 million tons.

Despite the sharp increase of raw material prices this year, farmers were still able to reap benefits of over 780 USD/hectare thanks to good management of pesticide and fertilizers usage.

According to the plan, about 1.5 million hectares of paddies in the Mekong Delta will be sowed in the next summer-autumn crop as saline intrusion is expected to decrease gradually from the end of March.
