VTV.vn - Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO) Margeret Chan warned that the Zika virus outbreak could become worse due to its increasing unpredictability.

Chan also said 46 countries had witnessed Zika infections, and 130 countries were reported to have the Aedes mosquito - the main Zika transmitter. As said by Chan, the Zika virus is still thought to be the main cause of head defects in children until proven otherwise. So far, Vietnam has yet to report any infections, but 5 new cases in China have stirred up worries of a potential spread. Currently, health control measures are being tightened in Vietnam’s tourist destinations, especially places favored by Chinese tourists.
