Entitled "My Vietnam, Your Investment Destination", the event is expected to boost Vietnam-US ties in finance and capital markets.
Tax policies, bonds and the equitisation of state-owned enterprises were discussed by US firms, with the Ministry of Finance happy to answer queries. One of the Vietnam’s policies of the most interest is Decision 60 which eased the cap on foreign ownership stakes in equitised state-owned enterprises. According to Minister of Finance Dinh Tien Dung, the conference will build trust among US investors in Vietnam investment’s environment.
Over 150 representatives of foreign funds including both those that have already invested in Vietnam, as well as those considering the move attended. Most said the conference underlined Vietnam’s commitment to encourage foreign investors, with several firms claiming they were actively considering investing.
