Jungfrau is one of the peaks of the Bernes Alps, the tallest mountain range in Europe, with the peak reaching 11,000 metres. Begun in1896 and completed in 1912, the Jungfrau cog railway line measures more than 9 kilometres and includes 7 kilometres of tunnel before reaching the highest railway station in Europe. Tourists have the opportunity to enjoy the scenery and the mountain’s restaurants, cinema, ice castle, and exhibitions. The Swiss tourism authorities claim the Jungfrau complex has been as a must-visit destination since the beginning of the 19th century.
