Vietnamese President attends UN Peace-keeping Summit

VTV.vn - President Truong Tan Sang attended the United Nations Peace-keeping Summit held in New York on September 28 as part of the on-going 70th session of the UN General Assembly.

The event saw the participation of UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, US President Barack Obama and leaders of nearly 50 countries. Participating countries highlighted the role of the UN peacekeeping operations in preventing wars through peaceful means to the conflict. Many countries have made specific commitments to the operations. President Sang affirmed Vietnam’s attendance at the event as a contributor to UN peace keeping operations since 2014. The country will soon dispatch a level-two field hospital and military engineer unit and continue sending liaison and staff officers on UN missions.
