Russia launches last kilo submarine for Vietnam

VTV.vn - Russian ship-builders on Monday launched the last of the six Kilo-class submarines ordered by the Vietnamese Navy in the city of Saint Petersburg.

Admiral Viktor Chirkov, Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy, and Rear Admiral Pham Hoai Nam, Commander of the People's Navy of Vietnam, were present at the submarine launch ceremony. HQ-187 Ba Ria - Vung Tau is the last of Russia's six modern diesel-electric Kilo class submarines supplied to Vietnam. Vietnam has four Kilo submarines in operation while the fifth is reportedly running sea trials in the Baltic Sea.
