Vietnam aims for 90-90-90 target on HIV/AIDS

VTV.vn - A National conference on HIV/AIDS was held on the 24th of November in Hanoi.

Nobel Prize winner, Prof. Françoise Barré-Sinoussi – one of the people who discovered the HIV virus also attended the conference.

According to Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam, Vietnam aims to reach the 90-90-90 target, which means by 2020, 90% of people living with HIV will know their status, 90% will be treated with antiretroviral drugs (ARV) and 90% of ARV treatment can control the viral load in low status.

At the conference, Professor Francoise shared views on the global challenges, and proposed solutions to maintain the sustainability and effectiveness HIV/AIDS programmes. Funds for HIV prevention in Vietnam are winding down, while the country has over 227 thousand people living with HIV in Vietnam./.\\
