US President Barack Obama, Chinese President Xi Jinping, Russian President Vladimir Putin, Japanese PM Shinzo Abe, Vietnam's State President Tran Dai Quang, and other leaders from APEC member countries took part in the event. The 2016 APEC in Peru focuses on 4 issues: regional economic improvement, regional food market development, the modernization of SMEs, and human resources. Speaking at the event, State President Tran Dai Quang stressed the member countries' determination to promote free trade and investment, support businesses, and utilize opportunities brought by the 4th industrial revolution. Vietnam also called for support and technology transfer from other APEC members in 2017 for the sustainable development of the APEC community and the Asia Pacific region.
