This week’s competition of Week 1 - Month 3 - Quarter 4 of Road to Olympia Mount saw a fierce race between four contestants: Nguyen Van Duc (Le Quy Don Specialized High School - Ba Ria-Vung Tau), Nguyen Nhat Thanh (Gia Dinh High School - Ho Chi Minh City), Du Duc Anh (FPT High School - Hanoi), and Nguyen Si Quoc Khanh (Kien An High School - Hai Phong).
The first contestant to enter the Warm-up round was Nguyen Van Duc, who scored 30 points. Meanwhile, Nhat Thanh and Quoc Khanh both earned 40 points, and Duc Anh led with 50 points.
The 12 General Warm-up questions began, and the contestants took turns pressing the buzzer to secure their next points. After the round, the scores changed as follows: Van Duc with 35 points, Quoc Khanh with 45 points, and Nhat Thanh and Duc Anh tied with 65 points.
The keyword in today’s Overcome Obstacle round consisted of 15 letters. On the first question, all four contestants gave the same correct answer. However, the second question proved difficult, with none of them answering correctly.
After the answer to the third questionwas revealed, Duc Anh buzzed in to solve the obstacle, answering "Khoi nghia Yen The" (Yen The Uprising). Although he admitted he wasn’t entirely sure, it turned out to be the correct answer.
Thanks to that, Duc Anh took the lead with 125 points. The other contestants' scores were: Van Duc with 55 points, Nhat Thanh with 85 points, and Quoc Khanh with 65 points.
The Speed-up round was highly competitive, with contestants could quickly closing the score gap or surge ahead. In the first question, Van Duc, Quoc Khanh, and Nhat Thanh scored points, while Duc Anh answered incorrectly. In the second question, all four contestants had the correct answer, but Van Duc was the fastest, earning an additional 40 points. The match became more exciting as all four performed well, with Van Duc in particular trying to answer as quickly as possible. The math question caused a split, but Quoc Khanh was the only one to figure out the pattern, earning himself 40 points.
By the end of the Speed-up round, the scores changed dramatically, with the contestants closely chasing one another: Van Duc with 145 points, Duc Anh with 165 points, and both Nhat Thanh and Quoc Khanh leading with 175 points.
Nhat Thanh was the first to enter the Finish round, choosing the 20-20-30-point question set. After missing the first question, he answered the second question correctly in the last few seconds, earning himself 20 points. However, he didn’t score on the final question.
Quoc Khanh opted for the safe 20-point question set. Although he missed the first question, his composure and confidence helped him score in the remaining two questions. His only regret was that he didn’t choose the Hope Star.
Meanwhile, Duc Anh chose the 20-30-20-point set. After correctly answering the 30-point question, he temporarily tied for second place with Nhat Thanh and trailed the leader by 20 points. Duc Anh’s confidence helped him tie with Quoc Khanh with 215 points.
Van Duc selected the 20-20-30-point question set. Nhat Thanh earned 20 points from Van Duc’s score, meaning he also had 215 points. The competition became more intense than ever. For the final question, Van Duc chose the Hope Star but failed to answer correctly.
Thus, Nhat Thanh, Quoc Khanh, and Duc Anh entered the tie-breaker round to determine the winner. This was a rare situation, as all three contestants competed in the tie-breaker.
The atmosphere became tense as none of the contestants answered correctly in the first tie-breaker question. In the second tie-breaker, Quoc Khanh gave the correct answer.
As a result, the winner of this week’s competition was Quoc Khanh from Hai Phong. The final scores of the four contestants were: Van Duc with 115 points and Nhat Thanh, Duc Anh, and Quoc Khanh with 215 points.
