54 relics were unearthed at Tham Khit Cave, including stone tools and axes which are attributed to the late Palaeolithic Age, around 20,000 years ago.
In addition to Tham Khit, archaeologists from the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences and the Bac Kan Museum also examined several nearby caves and found almost 100 other objects dating back to between 2,000 and 20,000 years ago.
According to archaeologists, the newly discovered artefacts, along with others unearthed in Bac Kan Province in recent years, show that the province is one of locations where ancients humans used to live.
The discovery is not only significant in the field of archaeology but also offers an opportunity to create a new tourism product for visitors to Ba Be Lake.
