VTV.vn - “Digital Citizens” is a new television program designed to provide essential information and equip all Vietnamese citizens with the digital skills necessary to confidently thrive in a fully digitized future.

The production teams behind Digital Citizens have traveled across the country, delivering valuable insights into the “Digital Literacy for All” movement and  helping to widely disseminate basic digital literacy skills to the public.

According to Mr. Vu Thanh Mai – Vice Chairman of the Central Commission for Propaganda and Mass Mobilization: “To effectively implement the communication goals of Resolution 57, the Commission has closely collaborated with Vietnam Television to launch this new program. As a result, people and businesses alike are becoming more engaged and proactive in  the national digital transformation efforts”.

Journalist Nguyen Hoang Long – Deputy Head, Department of Special Features and Education, VTV, said: “The program targets ordinary citizens—elderly people, children, residents in remote areas— to ensure that everyone can apply digital knowledge in their daily lives and learn the skills needed to live more safely and happily in a digital world”.

One particularly touching segment features a digital literacy class specifically designed for senior citizens, just one of the many meaningful elements the show brings to national audiences.

Each episode of Digital Citizens, which is approximately  15 minutes in length,   is divided into three parts, offering a wide range of practical content. Viewers will  not only be introduced to the full concept of what it means to be a digital citizen and the essential skills required, but  will also gain deeper insights into digital literacy in   a digital society, including specialized information related to the digital operations of government agencies.

Editor Vu Ngoc Dung — the Digital Citizens program explained: “The Digital Citizens program was created with the primary goal of portraying a modern citizen, what skills they need to live and work in an environment that is undergoing digital transformation, and eventually, full digitalization. As for regulatory  agencies, the question is what they must do to approach the public in the most accessible way and equip them with the necessary knowledge so they can meet the requirements of a digital government”.

Editor Vu Ngoc Dung added: “The way we structure the program does not follow the traditional reporting format. We aim to integrate more digital technologies into the production, for example, in some episodes we may feature AI-generated hosts, or instead of physically traveling to film characters, we might use advanced digital tools to conduct remote recordings.”

To effectively communicate  the content of digital transformation and promote the “Digital Mass Literacy” movement, the production team has chosen a fresh and creative approach to storytelling. At the same time, the production process has been meticulously planned, bringing numerous highlights and distinctive features to the program.

Editor Ton Nam - the Digital Citizens production team, noted: “The Digital Citizens program is a show for every Vietnamese citizen. We’ve traveled across the country to capture genuine stories, like that of a street vendor running an online business, or a homemaker who uses digital tools every day. These are relatable stories in which viewers can see themselves  in.” He emphasized: “This program serves as a guide to a safe, civilized digital society where every citizen can benefit from digital technology”.
