On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and China (January 18, 1950 – January 18, 2025), and in response to the Vietnam - China Year of People-to-People Exchange, Vietnam Television (VTV) and China Media Group (CMG) jointly organized the Ceremony to Announce VTV – CMG Media Cooperation and Introduce Key Media Projects for the 2025–2026 Period. The event took place in Hanoi on the afternoon of April 14.

For many years, media cooperation between VTV and CMG has included joint production and broadcast of documentaries such as “Vietnam Today – China Today” (2015), “The Charm of Vietnam – The Charm of China” (2017); collaboration in training, expert exchange, and participation in television seminars within the framework of the National Television Festival organized by VTV; the signing of strategic cooperation agreements during high-level visits by leaders of both Parties and States; and support for content exchange and television resource sharing during the COVID-19 pandemic.
On the occasion of the VTV–CMG media cooperation announcement, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh sent a congratulatory letter to both Vietnam Television and China Media Group. The Prime Minister emphasized that television plays an important role in disseminating accurate information, promoting people-to-people connections, and presenting the cultural values of each nation in a spirit of respect and cooperation. Vietnam Television and China Media Group, as the main media agencies of the two Parties and States, have effectively fulfilled this role.
“On the occasion of the Vietnam–China Year of People-to-People Exchange 2025, I hope that the two broadcasters will proactively cooperate and continue to uphold their positions as the official national information channels, promote a friendly neighborly relations, a comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership, and build a Vietnam–China community with a shared future in line with the aspirations of the people of both countries,”he wrote.
In the spirit of long-term and effective cooperation, VTV and CMG have agreed to launch a series of major media activities throughout 2025–2026. Among the highlights are joint production of programs focusing on technological development, artificial intelligence, urban infrastructure, and comprehensive coverage of key political, cultural, and social milestones of both nations.
Representatives from Vietnam Television (VTV) and China Media Group (CMG) officially launch the 2025 Cooperation Campaign, commemorating the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations and the Vietnam–China Year of People-to-People Exchange.
Important events such as high-level visits by leaders of the two Parties and States, major conferences, strategic cooperation, and people-to-people exchanges will be given priority for timely and in-depth coverage.
VTV and CMG have agreed to strongly promote the exchange of television content, focusing on presenting productions that reflect the deep cultural values, national identity, and remarkable development achievements of each country. Documentaries, television dramas, and features on history, landmarks, people, and innovation will be prioritized in the content exchange plan. These initiatives aim to deepen mutual understanding, empathy, respect, and the enduring bond between the two longstanding cultural nations in Asia.
Mr. Do Duc Hoang, Deputy General Director of VTV, and Mr. Liang Jiantang, Chief Editor of CMG, jointly announce the launch of the Vietnam–China Documentary Exchange Project to be aired on both broadcasters.
A major highlight in the cooperation agenda is the cultural exchange program between Vietnamese and Chinese artists. This event will bring together prominent names representing traditional and contemporary art from both countries.
To further deepen cultural understanding between the two nations, particularly among the younger generation, VTV and CMG will co-produce a program titled “Vietnam–China Young Journalists Exchange”. This initiative offers young reporters an opportunity to raise awareness, foster traditional friendship, cultivate bonds, learn from each other, and work towards a sustainable future.
Ms. Nguyen Phuong Mai, Head of Current Affairs at VTV, and Mr. Li Feng , Deputy Director of CMG’s Asia-Pacific Bureau, inaugurate the Vietnam–China Young Journalists Exchange Journey.
Mr. Nguyen Dang Hoc, Head of Programming at VTV, and Mr. Ānxiào wǔ , Director of CMG’s Asia - Africa Center, announce the start of a collaborative production of a Dialogue program.
Mr. Nguyen Vong Ngan, Head of Culture and Arts at VTV, and Mr. Gāo yì , Director of CMG’s Asia–Pacific Regional Office, launched a new cultural program partnership.
Commenting on the VTV–CMG cooperation, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Lam, General Director of VTV, stated that through the concrete projects launched today – from joint documentary productions and cultural exchange shows to thematic dialogues and multi-platform digital content collaborations – the two national broadcasters are not only fostering cultural exchange and offering citizens of both countries access to the richness of each other’s traditions and innovations, but also laying a solid foundation for a lasting friendship between Vietnam and China.

CMG and VTV will continue their cooperation in content sharing, joint production, personnel exchanges, and technical collaboration. We will also jointly organize multiple people-to-people exchange activities such as the ‘Vietnam–China Young Journalists Exchange Journey’, to turn small streams of cooperation into a great river of friendship between our two nations”.
