The draft amendment stipulates that organizations and individuals who want to convert their use of granted land or leased land will have to replant the same amount of forest. For natural forest, they will have to plant two to three times the total area.
Some members suggested reviewing the provisions in the draft to avoid conflicts between the Law on Forest Protection and the Law on Land. Lawmakers suggested that the Law on Forest Protection and Development be renamed the Law on Forestry. They also stressed the need to form a fishery resource surveillance force.
