Discussing the draft revised Press Law on November 26, the National Assembly deputies agreed on the need to pass a new law as the current legislation governing the press was largely obsolete due to the rapid development of information technology and social networks.
The amended law is intended to take into account clauses in the 2013 Constitution on the right to freedom of speech and freedom of the press as well as address shortcomings in the current law. They also mentioned content and behaviour prohibited in the media ‘activities’ and provision of information for journalists.
