VTV.vn - A monument featuring President Ho Chi Minh and a border guard was unveiled on May 14 at the Chan May Port border station in Thua Thien-Hue Province on the occasion of the late leader’s 130th birth anniversary.

The 1.6-metre-high statue was modelled after a work by Vu Trong Khoi, depicting President Ho Chi Minh talking to a border defence soldier.

It is made of stone-like concrete with the statue painted bronze.

The pedestal is inscribed with a line from President Ho Chi Minh’s poem made at a conference of the border defence force, then known as the people’s armed police, in Hanoi in 1962.

In the northern province of Thai Nguyen, an exhibition opened on May 14 at the Thai Nguyen University of Education to display more than 200 photos, documents and artefacts related to the life and career of President Ho Chi Minh as well as photos featuring the late leader’s seven visits to the province along with its socio-economic achievements over the past 30 years.

The exhibition runs from May 14 to 20.

In the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong, a ceremony to honour 90 exemplary young Party members who dutifully follow President Ho Chi Minh’s teachings was held by the provincial Youth Union as part of activities to mark the late leader’s 130th birth anniversary and to celebrate the upcoming 13th National Party Congress.
