Vietnamese and foreign artists from across the world will perform over the course of three days, from November 10 to 12, at Thang Long Royal Citadel in Hanoi.

Speaking at a press conference to announce the festival, in Hanoi, on November 9, the festival’s director - musician Nguyen Quoc Trung said that the festival will introduce new trends in music, stressing his belief that the event would bring a true and authentic atmosphere of a musical party to the visitors.

He noted with pleasure that since it was launched in 2014, the music festival has become an ultimate icon, receiving a lot of appraise from the public audience and the media, and welcoming 80,000 music lovers throughout its three editions.

“With Monsoon festival, I want to share that the most valued thing in life is not the abundance of material possessions but the richness in our spiritual experience,” Trung said.

With the aim of targeting the younger generations, this year’s festival will deliver a message of ‘Drink Don’t Drive’, aiming to raise public awareness, particularly in the youth, of traffic safety, and encourage them to create a change in their behaviour while driving.

The 2017 event presents talented individual artists and bands from Denmark, Belgium, the Republic of Korea, the UK, Slovakia, Germany, Israel and the host Vietnam.

Expressing their happiness at returning to Vietnam to perform at Monsoon Festival for the second time, members of the Slovak indie pop band, Lavagance said that they will bring the best of their music to entertain the audience on the evening of November 11.

In their first time participating at the festival, Israel will introduce their famous band, Garden City Movement, which seamlessly brings together contemporary and traditional influences of music. The three-member band has performed around the world and promise to surprise Vietnamese audiences with a versatile range of performing genres, particularly fans of electro music, he said.

“Although it is the first time that Israel has joined Monsoon Music Festival, we have observed the festival over the past four years and witnessed how inspiring the event is among the younger Vietnamese generations,” he said, hailing that the organising board has worked out a smart way to integrate artists from all over the world.

As one of the participating Vietnamese artists, Vu Dinh Trong Thang, lead of Ngot (Sweet) band, said that it was an honour for his band to be invited to this year’s festival.

‘I established my own vision of music, and through the past three days practicing with the Monsoon Festival team for the event, I know that my music has elevated onto a higher level,” he revealed.

He also expressed his gratitude to the organiser for creating a true platform for artists to play music and share their joy and happiness with others.
