According to the Southern Institute of Water Resources, landslide and erosion cause agriculture land loss of about 500 hectares every year in the Mekong Delta alone. Currently, there are 265 places in the region facing erosion. In addition, Ca Mau province suffers from land subsidence of 2 centimetres each year.
