VTV.vn - Vietnam's development partners gathered at a meeting in Hanoi to discuss measures to address the huge numbers of bombs and mines that still litter the country since the American War.

A series of activities were held to review achievements of unexploded ordnance clearance Programme 504 after 5 years of operation.

At the conference, a partnership team was announced to be formed to boost the call for foreign support. The State Steering Committee for Programme 504 also announced a map of areas suspected of bomb and mine contamination and launched a group of partners to address post-war unexploded ordnance.

Before that, the headquarters of the Vietnam National Mine Action Centre was inaugurated in Hanoi's Thach That District.

On the same day, 4th ADMM+ Working Group Conference on Humanitarian Mine Action was jointly chaired by India and Vietnam's defence ministries. The conference reviewed co-operation activities between member countries, particularly the outcomes of the recent field exercise on humanitarian mine action and peacekeeping operations within the ADMM+ framework in India and discussed directions for future co-operation and handed over the presidency of the working group to Laos and Russia.
