VTV.vn - On Wednesday night (October 12), the second "Asia Europe" New Music Festival officially kicked off at the Hanoi Opera House, with the presence of more than 200 musicians from 30 countries in Asia and Europe.

This is an opportunity for foreign musicians to introduce their contemporary musical works and international composing trends; and also to understand more about the people and culture of Vietnam through professional music.

The Symphony "Cụ Rùa" is one among many unique musical pieces performed on the opening night of the "Asia Europe" New Music Festival, held on Wednesday at the Hanoi Opera House. With the theme "Music Conversion and Pervasion", this year's festival witnesses the participation of more than 200 musicians from nearly 30 countries from Asia and Europe.

This is also the second time Vietnam has hosted an international musical exchange event of such scale. After the success of the first festival, also held in this country in 2014, Vietnam was admitted to become an official member of the Asian Composers League (or ACL).

“Although we are a new member of the ACL, with the current position of Vietnam in the world map of professional music, with our performing artists, our orchestras, our composers, especially ones who are professionally trained at home and abroad, we have established quite a reputation among international friends”, said,  composer Do Hong Quan, Chairman of Vietnam's Composers Association

The second "Asia Europe" New Music Festival takes place at the same time as the 34th Asian Composers League Conference, which is also hosted in Vietnam. Along with 11 concerts within the framework of the festival, there are also conferences with various topics relating to musical exchanges between Asia and Europe. The series of events will last until October 18.
