By May 6, the hot air is forecast to expand to the northern and central coastal regions, with peak temperatures hovering around 34-39 degrees Celsius.
The National Hydrology Meteorology Forecast Center reported that this is the first massive heat wave to hit Vietnam this summer, with the Phon wind effect pushing temperatures up.
Hot weather is predicted to last for the next three to five days. Temperatures could even surpass 40 degrees Celsius in some parts of the north and central regions.
Meanwhile, daytime temperatures in the southern provinces are reducing slightly.
