The Vietnam visit is the first overseas trip made by Poliburo member Phankham Viphavan following his election. Vice President Nguyen Thi Ngoc Thinh hosted an official welcome ceremony for standing member of the Secretariat of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party Central Committee Phankham Viphavan in Hanoi on Monday morning.
After the welcome ceremony, Poliburo member and standing member of the Secretariat of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee Dinh The Huynh held talks with the visiting Laos delegation. The two sides agreed on measures to effectively implement the Joint Statement issued on April/2016, focusing on enhancing co-operation on defence and security to ensure political stability, security, social order and safety in each country.
Later on the same day, Communist Party of Vietnam General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong also welcomed the Laos delegation. At the meeting, the Party chief congratulated Phankham Viphavan on his new position as well as expressed his hope for stronger support on collaboration of two sides. Viphavan shared his pleasure about the solidarity, and comprehensive co-operation between Laos and Vietnam.
