This is just one of hundreds of franchised brands operating in the food sector. Over the past 2 years, franchising has seen an average growth of 15-20% per year. According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, there have been nearly 150 international brands registered to franchise in Vietnam, including big names like KFC and Starbucks. The number of franchised Vietnamese brands, however, are still quite few.
Cộng Caphe opened its first coffee shop in 2007, but now operates 25 locations across the country. Since 1998, Trung Nguyên Coffee has expanded to over 1,200 stores. Popular restaurant "Phở 24" now has 38 stores, with about 50% located in Australia, South Korea, and Hong Kong.
