Japanese people have 10-day holiday to celebrate new emperor

VTV.vn - On April 30, Emperor Akihito will be the first Japanese emperor to abdicate in more than two centuries. Across Japan on Friday, people were preparing themselves both physically and mentally for an unprecedented 10-day holiday to celebrate Crown Prince Naruhito's enthronement on May 1.

The holiday is expected to give the country's economy a boost.

After a 31-year reign, Emperor Akihito will abdicate on April 30 and be replaced by his son Naruhito the next day.
