Frost and ice appeared at dawn on the peak located in the northern province of Lao Cai, surprising tourists with its relatively early appearance. Typically, temperatures do not drop dramatically until well into November and more so in December. Last year, Sapa Town of Lao Cai was another northern mountainous district that experienced record-low temperatures in 40 years.
