In order to fully tap its tourism potentials and strengths, the city has been attracting more investment in the tourism sector in order to improve the quality of its services and, in turn, keep visitors staying longer.
In 2015, Da Nang had 74 investment projects in tourism and services worth about 8 billion USD. Recently, the construction of the Coco Bay project in the central region has been approved by the city government with a total area of 31 hectares. This complex includes a resort, conference hall, opera house and an entertainment club with the total investment of 500 million USD. It is expected to begin operations in 2017.
"The big corporations of Dubai have introduced many investors in the Middle East to invest in the Coco Bay project, especially in the entertainment services." - Trinh Viet Hung, Deputy General Director, Imperial Group
Da Nang has some of the most beautiful beaches in the country and a hotel system with international standards. However, for visitors staying in Da Nang, the average length of stay is 3 days and average spending of 500 USD are not commensurate of its potential. The city is aiming for the target of one more night for each visitor with more products and better services.
"With more investment in the high quality segment, we can attract more international visitors to Vietnam, especially ones from difficult markets with high spending, and keep them staying longer. It will help increase quality standards and the revenue of Vietnamese businesses." - Ngo Hoai Trung, Deputy General Director, Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, Minister of Tourism and Culture.
In recent years, Da Nang was repeatedly named one of the most attractive destinations in the region and the world by many prestigious magazines. The city has set a target of welcoming 8.1 million visitors by 2020.
