VTV.vn - The overall number of positive coronavirus cases in Vietnam climbed to 222 after the Ministry of Health announced the discovery of a further four new cases on April 2 morning.

Among the fresh patients, one is a patient caretaker at Bach Mai Hospital in Hanoi and three were placed into isolation right after entry so there is no risk of spreading the disease to the wider community.

Case No 219 is a 59-year-old female patient working for Truong Sinh Co. Ltd which provides catering services to Bach Mai Hospital in Hanoi. She had taken care of her family member at the Neurology Department of Bach Mai Hospital and shared the same room with patient 133 on March 16.

The remaining patients (220,221, 222), aged 20, 24, 28, were confirmed positive for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) by the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology. They are now in stable health condition and were kept in quarantine immediately after returning to Vietnam from France, Canada and the US.

At an earlier meeting of the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control on April 1, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam affirmed the whole political system's high determination to bring the epidemic under control while calling on every citizen to properly implement all directions to slow the spread of COVID-19 in the community.

According to Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Ngo Van Quy, the outbreak at Bach Mai Hospital has been basically put under control. Hospitals in the capital have been now equipped with adequate facilities capable of treating 1,000 coronavirus cases and handling approximately 1,800 samples per day.

To date, 64 COVID-19 patients have been released from hospital after their complete recovery, 54 have tested negative once and 43 have tested negative twice.
