The ministers, together with other state officials, have spent at least one day's salary to aid the victims. Since October, 9 central provinces and the Central Highlands have suffered 5 consecutive floods. The floods have left 100 dead and damaged over 80 thousand hectares of rice and crops. Binh Dinh province alone saw 41 casualties. The damage is estimated to reach 1.7 billion US dollars. Before the campaign launch, the PM and Deputy PM Trinh Dinh Dung had visited and encouraged people in some severely flood-stricken localities in Binh Dinh province.
