VTV.vn - Most present at the forum agreed that a 6-6.5% growth rate in 2015 is feasible. However, the most challenging obstacle to Vietnam is sustainable development.

During the first day of the Spring Economic Forum 2015, economic experts reviewed the accomplishments made by Vietnam in 2014 and discussed their vision for 2015. Most present at the forum agreed that a 6-6.5% growth rate in 2015 is feasible. However, the most challenging obstacle to Vietnam in the coming time is sustainable development.

"Positive" is a comment that economic expert Trần Đình Thiên has given in his Vietnam economic review for 2014. The most positive sign in the development trend of the economy in the past year has been much needed restructuring and economic reforms. However, economic experts still have many further concerns on the rehabilitation of the economy.

Economic expert Trần Đình Thiên, Director of Vietnam Institute of Economics said: “Vietnam has attracted many foreign investors but has not been able to integrate into the world economy. Moreover, the more FDI that flows into Vietnam, the less Vietnamese businesses can develop. The number of newly established firms is increasing, so we have to quickly install a new and modern mechanism to manage these firms. Our economic status in the agriculture, industry and service sectors remains low".

Most experts at the forum agreed that the macroeconomic policies of Vietnam are on the right track but they still need to be strengthened. If economic reforms are interrupted, risks can badly affect economic development.

On the economic prospects of Vietnam in 2015, experts said that a 6-6.5% growth rate is feasible. They said that in this period, the most important missions are to focus on economic restructuring and reforms and to enhance integration capacity for growth quality and internal forces of the economy.
