Conducted by the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, the project is to reduce greenhouse gas emission by using more domestically-manufactured LED lighting products.
It will devise a national roadmap for LED lighting development that is subject to a biennial review, establish universal quality standards for LED lighting products while raising public awareness of its benefits through workshops and training courses.
LED displays indoors and outdoors are also planned.
The nationwide project will last for four years at a total cost of over 8.1 million USD, including more than 1.5 million USD in non-refundable aid from GEF and 6.4 million USD in kind from Vietnam.
