At the meeting in Hanoi, the Vietnamese Prime Minister proposed that Vietnam and China work together to ensure security, peace and development in border areas, especially along the one that Yunnan shares with Vietnam’s north-western provinces.
He urged both countries to simplify customs procedures and boost trade and tourism. For his part, Chen Hao presented a number of measures to step up connectivity and trade between Yunnan and Vietnam. He reiterated the proposal to open direct air routes from Kunming City to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, and the plan by Yunnan and Lao Cai Provinces to build a trans-border economic zone. Prime Minister Dung showed his support to these ideas.
