The campaign “Donation for homeland’s sea and islands” has been running since May 2014 by the Vietnamese community in Germany. Amongst several ideas, they decided to build a patrol boat to support the nation’s efforts to protect its sovereignty.

Mr Vo Van Long, campaign manager, said: "We live far from our homeland but our spirit of patriotism is still high. We want to contribute to our country's needs. We hope the boat will be a practical way to protect national sovereignty.
