In recent years, many overseas Vietnamese intellectuals have technology applications that are being used in big multinational companies. For example, a microprocessor chip that can track a radioactive source, or an application that can analyse human DNA in a much shorter timeframe. These inventions have helped promote Vietnamese intellectual capacity within the global arena.
Vietnam has to import 100% of its products containing chips. Also known as logic chips, they control the automated and analysing capacity of a machine. In 2014, for the first time, the microprocessor chip SG8V1 invented by Vietnamese-Japanese professor Đặng Lương Mô was introduced across many fields in Vietnam.
