On the occasion of the 69th anniversary of the Liberation Day of the Capital (10/10/1954 - 10/10/2023), the Documentation Center of the Vietnam Television (VTV) introduced the digital channel VTV Memory. This channel is produced by the Documentation Center which is broadcasted on the National digital television platform VTVGo.
VTV Memory is a specialized channel that produces and airs programs related to the history, culture, and significant events in Vietnam’s history. Its mission is to promote, preserve, and convey the values of the nation’s history and culture, thereby fostering the audience’s affection and comprehension of Vietnam’s illustrious history.
Combining high-quality imagery and fresh content, VTV Memory is expected to create an engaging space for the audiences to explore and learn about the country’s past and the culture of Vietnamese people.
The channel focuses on producing unique programs, films, and documents stored at the Documentation Center of Vietnam Television to convey new messages and meanings about the Vietnamese’s determination, aspirations, and talents throughout various historical periods.
A representative from the production unit shared about VTV Memory, they said: “We hope that our audience will join us in preserving and conserving Vietnam’s historical and cultural heritage. We eagerly await contributions and feedback from the community to continue developing and providing better content. VTV Memory is where you will have the opportunity to explore, learn, and immerse yourself in the beauty of Vietnam’s culture and history. It is your companion on the journey of discovering our beloved homeland”.
The VTV Memory channel, according to the production team, begins with 2 segments: “Ngày này năm xưa” (On This Day in the Past) and “Có thể bạn chưa biết” (Things You Might Not Know). Each part is devoted to preserving and documenting historical photographs and priceless artifacts, conveying human stories and daily life, and reenacting significant and captivating historical events.
In the “Ngày này năm xưa” (On This Day in the Past) Segment, they will highlight prominent or unique events that occurred on this day in the past. They will use archival footage from past broadcasts to commemorate historic occasions and the announcement of inventions and innovations.
The “Có thể bạn chưa biết” (Things You Might Not Know) segment delves deep into historical events, famous individuals, and historical families, introducing them from fresh and intriguing perspectives. Each program utilizes historical images, videos, and sounds to create engaging content.
With diverse and creative content, the production team of VTV Memory has created new and derivative programs based on existing shows and historical materials. Presently, the team has produced numerous outstanding programs such as “Khúc tráng ca Hà Nội”(Hanoi's Ode), “Con số 13 và chuyến tàu không số”(Number 13 and the Endless Journey), “Chuyện kề Hà Nội ngày 10/10/1954”(The story of Hanoi on 10/10/1954), “Biên tập viên Kim Tiến trở lại màn hình ở độ tuổi U80” (Presenter Kim Tien Returns to the Screen at the Age of U80), “Canh nhan tren lung ho” (Swallow’s Wings on the Back of a Tiger),... These programs are designed to satisfy the audience’s need for digital exploration and comprehension of Vietnam’s past and present.
