On the evening of October 14, the sixth live show, which was also the last live show of Vietnam Idol 2023, was held to determine the top 5 contestants who would advance to the finale. In this round of competition, the judges chose the songs for the contestants.
The evening's performance began with contestant Diễm Hằng singing the song "Lời tỏ tình dễ thương" by Ngọc Sơn. Each week, Diễm Hằng brings a fresh and innovative twist to her performances. With an arrangement that exudes freshness while maintaining the essence of the original song, Diễm Hằng showcased her pure, energetic voice.
Diễm Hằng's performance continued to captivate the judges, earning her high praise. In particular, director Nguyễn Quang Dũng even suggested the possibility of collaborating with Diễm Hằng on a film project as a director, inspired by her creative staging ideas.
Vũ Hiền Hellen continued to deliver a polished performance, excelling in both aural and visual aspects. Chosen by the judges to sing Vũ Cát Tường's song "Mơ," Vũ Hiền skillfully showcased her inner strength and an increasingly controlled and emotionally charged singing style.
This week, Thanh Thảo Muôii was chosen by the judges to perform the song "Chờ người nơi ấy," a popular OST from the film "Mỹ nhân kế," directed by Nguyễn Quang Dũng. In contrast to her previous youthful and energetic performances, Thanh Thảo's performance this time was characterized by a raw and personal expression. The judges also challenged Thanh Thảo with a challenging arrangement with continuous vocal modulation, which added dramatic flair to the song.
Vũ Hiền Hellen received accolades Singer Mỹ Tâm acknowledged Vũ Hiền's undeniable efforts and encouraged the young contestant to continue to showcase her strengths, even if it means just standing and singing.
Regarding Thanh Thảo, Mỹ Tâm expressed that this song was very suitable for the contestant, even though the composer Huy Tuấn initially disagreed. Mỹ Tâm believed that this performance would evoke the most emotions from director Nguyễn Quang Dũng because it's the soundtrack of "Mỹ Nhân Kế". Hà An Huy was chosen by the judges to perform the hit song "Dạ vũ" by Tăng Duy Tân. This song includes segments that use falsetto, which is a strong suit of Hà An Huy's singing. Notably, this was the first time Hà An Huy showed off his guitar playing skills on the Vietnam Idol stage.
The judges, especially composer Huy Tuấn, said that this performance was everything they wanted from this contestant. Hà An Huy showed a willingness to move away from overly polished performances and embraced the spirit and development of the arrangement.
Lâm Phúc was hailed by the judges as the "ballad prince" of Vietnam Idol. Director Nguyễn Quang Dũng advised Lâm Phúc to further develop his strengths, as "singing ballads is an easy way to make money".
At first, the judges assigned the song "Ngày chưa giông bão" to Hà Minh. However, they realized that this song required a lot of experience to perform, which might be too challenging for a young voice like Hà Minh's. Therefore, "Mascara" was chosen to replace Hà Minh in the sixth live show of Vietnam Idol.
Xuân Định's singing in his Huế accent was so exciting that Mỹ Tâm was thrilled.
Xuân Định K.Y. brought a surprising and delightful performance by singing the song "Chim sáo ngày xưa" entirely in his Huế accent, representing his hometown. Folk-influenced songs have always been one of Xuân Định's strengths.
Both Xuân Định and Hà Minh's performances were highly praised by the judges. As the competition draws to a close, these two contestants have proven their true talent and fully deserve their positions at this stage. In particular, Mỹ Tâm couldn't hide her excitement and found Xuân Định's performance very entertaining.
After the sixth live show, Vũ Hiền Hellen and Diễm Hằng Lamoon were the two contestants who were eliminated from the competition. The final top 5 contestants who advanced to the finals were Hà An Huy, Hà Minh, Xuân Định, Thanh Thảo, and Lâm Phúc.
