The International Energy Charter is a political declaration adopted in The Hague on May 20, 2015. It was designed to spread the fundamental principles of international energy cooperation to new partner countries for sustainable energy development and energy security.
Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has assigned the Ministry of Industry and Trade to work with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other relevant agencies to participate in all Charter activities, and research how Vietnam can become a full member in the near future.
The move is expected to support Vietnam in building direct contacts with partners, strengthening dialogues, and sharing experiences in the field.
