Vietnam is the first airline in the Asia Pacific that uses the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner. After this event, 18 787 Dreamliners will be handed over to Vietnam Airlines. The Boeing Company sees great potential in the Vietnamese market.
The contract between Boeing and Vietnam Airlines contributes to the total trade turnover between Vietnam and the US. By the end of 2014, total trade turnover between the two countries reached 35 billion USD, 78 times higher than 20 years ago.
Mr Vu Huy Hoang, Minister of Industry and Trade said: "One important aspects of Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong’s official visit to the US is to boost negotiations related to the possible Trans-Pacific Partnership. Both Vietnam and the US are expecting to mutually benefit from this FTA"
The ending of negotiations on the Trans-Pacific Partnership could be spurred by the US congress giving trade promotion authority to the Obama administration.
